Our clients were about to extend their existing property by adding a modern glass fronted dining area to the existing kitchen. The extension would have looked out onto an old driveway and so we were asked to redesign the outside area based on the architect's drawings to produce this beautiful landscaped garden.
A large outdoor dining area was created with plenty of room for a generous dining table and chairs, benches and large pots. As our clients wanted a water feature in the design, a rectangular reflection pool was incorporated to add interest (and home to garden pond wildlife).
The terrace is enclosed and separated from the main garden by the pleached trees which form an 'L' shape around the terrace. These pleached trees were trained to grow in this flat form with clear trunks and are pruned just once a year to look fabulous. The planting beds underneath the pleach trees are planted with a rich purple coloured iris.
In Spring the bulbs Allium 'Purple Sensation', flower en masse to create a fantastic rich display of colour in the garden.
