The installation of a piece of sculpture such as this 'Ring' sculpture begins with Chris discussing his ideas with the client and presenting sketches and plans to illustrate his thoughts. Once the sculpture design and location is agreed, the sketches are drawn up further with all details required for its fabrication.
The fabrication of the piece takes many discussions with the expert fabricators and numerous visits to the workshop to see the sculpture during its creation, both on paper and the finished piece.
Once the sculpture is complete the process of installing the piece on site is always interesting. Lots of initial discussion ensures that the piece is located within the garden exactly as Chris envisaged.
The next stage is to plant around the base of the sculpture so that the 'Ring' settles within the front garden and appears to float. The planting provides year round interest in the garden with formal box hedging, box balls and spring bulbs.
