Planting complete at Roundhay garden in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Date: Thu 11th September 2014

This is a completed design for a small garden near Keighley in Yorkshire which has great views over the beautiful Yorkshire Dales landscape.

The client requested no lawn and a small water feature and this is the finished planted garden design. The change in levels on site were accommodated with steps leading from the house and then a gently sloping garden path of stone paving and granite setts to the bottom of the garden.

Simple timber bench seat

The rendered walls and stone walls in the garden allow for level changes and provide for casual seating in the garden. The simple pergola of steel and timber will encourage climbers to provide shade in the full summer sun. This is an outdoor dining area within the garden.

Rendered walls and stone garden walls with simple pergola

This simple timber garden seat can be used with a garden table as a bench or simply on its own. Stone wall with stone copings and rendered walls with brick copings.

Raised planting bed to define space in the garden patio

Plenty of garden climbers to soften the existing fence and to climb over the new pergola to provide shade during outdoor dining. The box plants will be clipped to form a large cube and hostas will form ground cover planting under the acer tree.

Watering the completed garden planting

Chris watering the plants after all the landscape planting is complete. The client has a number of plants and pots which were to be retained in the finished garden. This lonesome hydrangea has not been positioned yet...

Beautiful curved garden steps

These beautiful garden steps lead from the house kitchen into the outdoor dining area. Stone setts allow for curves with stone edge, rendered walls and brick copings. The formal golden yew will act as a statement plant and is planted with perennial geranium as ground cover.
